Come to me, all you that are weary
and are carrying heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28

Sometimes, you just need a place to rest.  Life can feel full of hurts and worries.  The mind can be a confusing swirl of fears and troubles.  Circumstances can be a jumble of conflicts and unresolved questions.  And I don’t want to minimize at all the seriousness of what anyone may be dealing with.

But especially when your place in life feels like a struggle, take a moment to rest.  Be intentional about it.  And to make the moment most fruitful, rest in the love of Christ.

Know that you are loved no matter what.  Know that you are meant to be the bearer of Christ-like love.  And know that your purpose is to live Christ’s love in the midst of your hurts, worries, fears, troubles, conflicts, and unresolved questions.

To me, this is what it means to find rest in Christ.

It doesn’t always mean that the difficulties magically vanish.  And it doesn’t even mean that everything becomes suddenly easy.  But it can mean that Christ’s love might offer new meaning within the difficulties, and that insight can create a certain peace of mind and clarity of purpose even without knowing all the answers.
